Cranwelli question

port513 Apr 06, 2004 03:49 PM

I have a simple question about Cranwellis Horned Frog

He/she is about 3.5cm and I wonder how much he/she should eat?

He/she eats about i large cricket every 2 day and not more. Maybe he/she hasn't settled here yet, I have had him/her for just a couple of days now.

I'm not worried but I would like to know how much they should eat

to have it eating that soon is a really good sign. Mine took about a week before it even thought about eating. They normally have to settle in and get comfortable before they will start feeding. At least you know yours is an aggressive eater. There have been many numbers and diets thrown out there but just try feeding it a few crickets every few days and whatever it doesn't eat in a few hours, you can just take out and save for another day. Do not leave the crickets in there for extended periods because they will soon die if not eaten and decompose in your tank. Once he has fully settled in, he will eat if he is hungry. If hes not eating then he's probably just not hungry. Occasionally, you can supplement by dusting your cricks.
As you go, you will come to know your frog and his feeding habits and you can adjust his feeding accordingly. Good lcuk with your new frog.

I dust every meal he eats and I'm just about to give hime Miner-All-I too.

Right now he doesn't eat but he keep an eye on the food while it's in his/her cage.

You might want to try feeding nightcrawlers. They are a bit more substantial and many frogs relish them. They are a bit more complete nutritionally as well, though a staple made of crickets and nightcrawlers is top notch.

I'll try that.

BTW what is a good temp range?

Right now my hottest spot is 30 and the coolest 23-24 degree celcius.
