i just got my first tree frog two days ago. the problem is that he is seriously inactive. he doesnt moive at all during the day and i find him in the same spot he was the ngiht before, makign me believe he hasnt mvoed all night. am i being paranoid or should i see him move every once in a while? tank spec. 15 gallon, fake foilage, one large dixie cup he adopted as his home, temp 75 daytime and 68 night, high humidity.

I don't think your frog is sick. It sounds to me that he is just adjusting to his new home. WTF aren't awake during the day usually, unless they are stressed or sick. Is he active at night? and eating? Mine come out with in a half hour of lights out. Also WTF don't need high humidity, i keep mine at 50-60%. Good luck

WTFs prefer a temperature a bit warmer. They can be fine at 75, but would be more active at a slightly warmer temperature of 78-80 degrees. Other than that, dumpies are notorious for being very calm, non active frogs.

i raised the temp to about 80 and i noticed he actually moved from his cup into a little hiding house overnight. i fed him about 4 crickts two days ago and than he refused the fifth (i kno thats a little too many but this guy looks seriously underweight) i have read that dumpies are kind of "lazy" and thats fine with me i just want to make sure he's not ill.

how seriously underweight is your frog? can you see any outlines of bone by chance because if your frog looks weak and very slim to the point that you can see alot of bone outlines then you better take your frog to a vet! also what type of substrait do you have for him?

Sounds to me like your frog is a perfectly healthy white's tree frog. Honestly, one of the only ways that you know that they are alive in your tank is by either handling them, hearing them croak, or by making a mess in their water bowl.

i can see a couple bones in his back and his legs look awfully skinny. im hoping to fatten him up /

ok.. dont ask y that angry face is there? i dotn think i put it there lol

ok. Feed him small amounts everyday or every other day. Keep his cage warm and make sure you change his little water dish everyday to every other day. If 1-2 weeks go by, and he looks like he's LOST weight, then I would take him to the vet. Taking frogs to the vet isn't fun, but it'll probably be easier to grip a dumpy compared to a slippery african clawed frog! I had to give my frogs shots for parasites, 4 of them back then, and it isn't the easiest thing to do.

As of now,
2 clawed frogs
2 firebellied toads
1 D. tinctorius (blue and yellow dart frog)
