probably fed him way too much, you can let babies eat crickets until they stop (within reason) but adults will just gorge themselves on things like pinkies and supers and with adults you need to monitor their diet, it should be 80 percent dark leafy greens and 20 percent proteins. Pinkys should be fed very sparingly like once every 3 months if you must, only one of my dragons gets pinkies and only because she has a habit of staying a bit underweight but she only gets them rarely even then. If you feed a pinky thats a large enough meal on its own without supers. I would up your basking temperature a little, give your dragon a soak to rehydrate him. If you are very worried i would get him to a vet, if he continues to throw up definatly get him to a vet. Did you allow your dragon at least 2 hours of basking time before lights out after you fed him? they need the heat to be able to properly digest their food, a belly temperature of i beleive 103 is needed. hope he gets to feeling better.

i wouldnt feed him anymore right at the moment, just give him a good soak and check his basking temps to be sure its warm enough for him.

o no i only let the light on 4 like 1 hour or 45 minuits.ok i wont feed him any more.ny the way hes only 13 or 14 inches.the pinkie was like 1 1/2 grams.should the water be hot warm or cool??

reiko Jun 13, 2003 12:13 PM

water should be luke warm, so if you were to touch it to your wrist it wouldnt be either cold or hot, you kinda dont feel it at all. He is probably too small to be eating pinkies also, i would stick to crickets and small supers. They really dont need pinkies unless they have been gravid or if you really want to as a treat on a rare occasion. Just give him a soak, and let him bask, let us know how he does.

did he bring back up the pinky? or just the worms?

poopoohead Jun 13, 2003 12:49 PM

he brought up the pinky and some worms

reiko Jun 13, 2003 12:56 PM

ok well thats good.. better then him not being able to pass it and him getting impacted. I would steer clear of pinkies, at least until your dragon does some more growing. how old is he? is he offered greens daily and do you have UVB lighting and dust his food with good supplements?

poopoohead Jun 13, 2003 12:59 PM

he has uvb.i offer greens and fruits and i dust his fruits and veggies.i dont think im goign to feed him pinkies ever again
thanks for all the help.hes about 6 months by the way.i think he was the runt of the group.cuz hes a german giantxgold

I would deffinitely stay away from pinkies till he is bigger and even then rarely. I would not use the supers either for now.

Did you day he was 7 inches long? That's really small for a 6 month old bearded dragon, especially a german cross. I have a normal phase bearded dragon that is 6 months old and he is 14 inches long and 100 grams. I would switch his diet to crickets and mixed greens (approximately 10 3/4 inch crickets twice a day till adult (12 months old) or so, dusting once every other day). Greens should be offered just before crickets and left there for him to snack on during the day.

yeah i would stay away from them, they just arent needed. There are far better treats like butterworms which are really nutritious, very high in calcium, and green giants or goliath worms, you can buy a culture of them at lllreptile.com or herpfood.com, they are a really good alternative to pinkies and they love them. One of my dragons Carrick is a GG X Gold, here is a pic of him, hope to have some new ones up soon, hes about 7 months old in that picture. Hope your dragon is feeling better soon =) would love to see some pics of him, where did ya get him? just curious =)

Ok, How did you get a GG x Gold with all that red and orange? That boy is to die for. Awesome!
Take care,
Karen
