Pictures of the First Clutch

HalosExotics Apr 06, 2004 06:16 PM

This is a picture of what is left of the first clutch so far. There were 36 in all, but only 7 left as most of them were sold over the last week. They have mealworms in the dish the one is feeding from, they also get crickets several times a day and salad every morning.

These three are the biggest of the last 7. They are in shed but are already pretty light in color, I can't wait to see how they lighten up after they shed! Thanks for looking everyone!

I thought you weren't supposed to feed beardeds mealworms until they were 10-12 inches?Or did that change since I last heard it?

No you can give them mealworms that are small at any age in my opinion, I have never had problems and I know they like them and I also know a few other breeders who use them with babies too. So no I don't feel it is a problem.

What size do you use, and do you find it has any effect on reducing nips if the mealies are left in the dish in the morning?

I use the small or mini size mealworms from American Cricket Ranch. And yes I do feel that is reduces the chance of nips when they are left in the dish, I just take and put about 50-60 of them in a small shaker with Miner-All, then put them in the dish and leave them, they will run over and eat them right away, but then stop when they are full, then, if some climb over the dish, they get those because it is stimulating I guess, then they just snack on them all day like a leopard gecko would. I also periodically feed them circkets before mealworms, then three more times throughout the day, then I offer salad either in the morning before mealworms and then late afternoon. They have gotten used to all this and I haven't had any nips EVER so far, I have only had about 5 clutches though, and even in this big clutch of 36, I had no nips so I guess it works.

Cool thanks for the info. I think I will try it out when my first clutch hatches.
