I knew from day one that the 10 gal was extremely temporary, well, today was the day that changed. Today I built Nona a 4x2x2 cage. Just gots to get the substrate tomorrow and I will be golden.

Nice job! I am building one just like that except the front opens on mine.
Are you going to cover the inside? Paint, Stain, or some other coating? I am going to line the bottom of mine with some sort of plastic or metal but I can't figure out what to do with the inside walls.
Are you going to rely on lights for heat?

lights for heat. I don't trust heat rocks and i am apprehensive about using a 'heat pad' underneath because the bottom is 3/4" wood with a good layer of substrate on top of that. I have an infared bulb and a reg heat bulb, both focused, both 150 watt. I also have a full spec light in there but that doesn't throw enough heat to even include it. I thinnk that will do it since the heat in that room is kept at 70 . I am using a mix of washed playsand and millet cause I thought that the millet was too soft. I am probably going to try some type of soil (going to start a new thread) but not too sure on what people have had success with. That is not regular plywood but a type of fiberous wood. Can't think of what the actual type it is off the top of my head. I sealed the edges so I am not worried about stuff coming out the sides or anything. so far I am happy with it...
Sounds and looks great! I am worried that my guy won't be warm enough when he is burrowing. I am going to start with playsand also but I have built into the enclosure two burrowing hides that I can open from the back. Are you elevating your cage or does it sit on the floor?

right now, and for the next year, it will be on the floor. Eventually, when I buy a house, I will have it elevated. The two lamps seem to be doing it right now for heat and he's lovin the space. Runs from one side to the other, turns around and runs back. he's havin a blast. started diggin last night, which was funny to watch because it's millet and sand so it sdoesn't hold structure right now (may throw in some topsoil) so he was all but burying himself.
[keep in mind that the room is kept at about 70* then he's got the 2 lamps on him...]
