are tegus good intermedeate animals to take care of?

what do you mean by intermediate? they are hard to take care of in the sense that they need a large cage, deep substrate, high temps, high humidity, and are very large. But a dedicated hobbyist can easily supply those things.

Because Tegus can get quite large they can pose a threat in their teeth, claws and tail whipping. No more so (probably less) than a large green Iguana but none the less a potential problem for people who are hesitant. I have seen many dog tame Tegus that just want to cuddle but there are some psychotic ones out there. Housing issues aside, I think they are relatively easy to take care of and I enjoy all of mine. With time and patience, most will become quite tame.

I think Tegus are great pets for anyone with the room and the time needed to handle them on a regular basis. They are not for the beginner though. As was already said, a dedicated hobbyist should have no problems.
