I love those guys, especially the zig zag. It makes me want to put my charcoal and snow together. I bet I wouldnt get one of those. lol What do you consider the amel? a motley or motley stripe. She looks a lot like my little Hillary. Shes not an amel but the pattern is very simular.

Yeah, I don't know what to consider her, other than a kick a$$ looking corn snake...

I'm working on some pattern breeding projects so I really need to be clear about the motley-stripe genes.

Doesn't the name motley-stripe mean that both genes are present in the same animal, therefore expressed since they are co-dominant? And can't the genes express themselves as anything from the full thicker motley stripe to just partial striping? Of course I am assuming the full stripe is the desired affect but wouldn't you call anything with both genes a motley-stripe?

Thanks to anyone who can clear this up for me.

Hey Anna. I think you have got it figured out. Both the motley gene and stripe gene are both present in the same snake. You could get a variety of looks, but they will always be motley stripe. You'll never get a complete motley, or a complete stripe. I'm sure a lot of people don't like the motley stripe combination. My wife thinks my little Angus is the ugliest snake we have. I personnaly think its pretty cool.

Those are cool! I love them. Esp the grey one. Is that an anery or a ghost?

cmsuphoto Apr 07, 2004 10:54 AM

I'm pretty sure it's just a simple charcoal aztec kinda snake. The mom was anery B with a little yellow in her, the dad was a snow, but this baby has absolutely no yellow in her.

The came from my last year's clutch, so just under a year old. Healthy little guys too. After they moved in, which can be kinda stressful, they ate two pinkies each, like the little champs they are. I just love the striking contrast of these two, plus they have really cool patterns.

cornsnake234 Apr 07, 2004 10:38 PM

So they are one year old and you still feed them pinkies?!?!

Yes, only cause they were free pinkies and they were stressed from the move. normally they eat fuzzies.
