Hey all, if some of the big breeders could respond, it would be much appreciated...

I've posted a few times a little while ago about Jak not eating. Well, she's still not eating...very much. She used to eat out of her dish every night, usually eating most if not all of the 10 mealies I left for her. Now she doesn't even look at the dish for food. She will however eat a few mealies every now and then if I drop them in front of her and catch her attention. But she'll usually only eat about 3 or 4 like this. What's wierd is that she still loves to come out a play with me. In fact, when I put my hand in to give her her dinner, she'd rather try to climb onto my hand then eat. She's lost a bit of weight from her tail, but still looks healthy. I have already brought her to the vet and had a fecal done (negative) and had a series of deworming meds given to her just in case. She seems healthy and alert, so why isn't she eating? Also, after eating the 3-4 mealies she has a normal healthy poop as well. All her temps are correct, she's on papertowels, has water calcium and a humid hide always availible. Is she possibly just bored with mealies? I had originally had her on crickets, but decided against them after reading about all the potentially bad things that they could carry. Should I try mixing crickets in? Is there one supplier that you big breeders use and trust to produce healthy crickets? Any ideas and advice that you could offer would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi

As far as wanting to know a place for healthy crickets, here is a place, but they don't have there own web site, so you will have to call. J.B. Enterprises at 800-691-8911. I had asked the same question you did about healthy crickets and the above place is where Marcia McGuiness (Golden Gate Geckos) had given me to call.

Also, you said she doesn't go for the mealworms unless you drop them directly infront of her, so you could test her and make sure her eye sight is okay. Just make up a few tests yourself that would help you to be able to find out.

One other thought is that you could try to feed her mealworms one at a time by hand and hold it up to her mouth.

Take Care, TLB
