Georgia Eastern King Breakdown for Tony D. and others....

Keith Hillson Apr 06, 2004 10:35 PM

I put together a little photo montage to show the history of these Kings.

1) Statenville, GA locality and the Grandfather of the clan. He is a 6' beast belonging to Kevin Enge. One of my favorite all-time Easterns.

2) Tift Co., GA and the Grandmother. She no longer breeds Kevin told me I believe. She was quite prolific in her day. She is a 5' animal.

3) Offspring to 1 and2. This pair was purchased by Will Still from KEvin Enge back in the late 90's (Will would know better).

4) Offspring to pair 3 produced by Will Still last season (2003). Only a few have the wide oprange bands like my male or some of the others Will has produced. (see link for Will's extreme male from Enge Georgia's)

5) Sister to number 5. She is pretty much normal and looks like her parents and Grandparents.

6) Produced by Kevin Enge this year from breeding number 1 to one of his daughters. I guess that would make it mines uncle/cousin lol or something. Again Kevin only popped this one all the others looked normal.

Older Brother to mine- Extreme Eastern

She came from the pair Kevin Enge bought from Will Still in the late '90s; it's no surprise either when you look at them. Bonkers was bought in Sep. '00 by me in Tallahassee.

Thanks for the lineage of the two parents...now I know for certain where she came from.

Here's Bonkers at different ages:

At one year: Still with tons of red.

At nearly two years - losing the red but getting bigger:

At 3.6 years, 52" and 1.92 lbs:

You have it backwards. Kevin is the originator and Will Still purchased a pair from Enge in the late 90's. There really is no doubt about that animal you have its gotta be a from that line.

Yeah...I wrote it backwards! The guy I got it from knows Will so there's no doubt - I got it within a day of him getting 3 from Will (at the Tampa show). If I had known that the female was going to be this large I would've nabbed the two others he had, which were males.

She went from those burnt-orange/red crossbars to a transitional kinda ugly yellowish with some gray mixed in on the scales at around 2 or so.

But, by the time she was 3, from her head to about a third of her length she's developed really light yellow-whitish crossbars...almost creamy looking; that's what I expect the remaining to do as she ages because even at her age the ugly looking gray is fading away bit by bit. She also has that totally awesome, completely black venter (with a few yellow scales poking in a few spots).

In fact Keith, she still has a few scales with the burnt orange visible, but these are mostly gone now.

I'll put up a fresh, close up of her tonight with her crossbars for you to see. You'll see how close she looks to the copulating pair you have (pic number 3 in your post). She ate on Monday so this is a good a time as any to hold this crazy as# snake.

This is a great lineage of Easterns - potential Mr. Nasty's of the Eastern King world!

Im not sure Will sold any of his snakes at the Tampa show as he lives in NY but maybe. Are you sure it wasnt Kevin Enge he got them from as he sells his snakes at the Florida shows plus Will got his pair as juveniles in the late 90's. The pair copulating are Will's pair not mine and are the parents to mine. Yeah put a close up of her I would love to see it.

Good work putting that photo history together bud. Hopefully soon we'll have another generation to add to the mix.

I purchased my original pair from Kevin at the Orlando Expo in 1998. He had a few pairs of snakes from the Statenville x Tifton breeding. I selected my pair on the basis of their vibrant orange color that stood out from the others, which were pretty typical southern type easterns, medium cream - yellow bands on the black background. The pair grew quickly and produced 2 fertile clutches, at 18 & 19 months respectively. Many of the babies that hatched that first season were quite exraordinary and were naturally held back. Last year I bred those orange GA girls to some "special" project easterns, but this year, they will hopefully be dancing with "Frank the Tank", their extremely wide chained, tail chewing sibling. All of the easterns are out of the big chill and are feeding voraciously. Breeding should commence soon (I hope)! Again, nice work Bro.

I think you are the first person I have ever seen that has actually shown pictures of the lineage of their snake. Whether it be for locality or not, I think it's just great just to see.
