For those with fasting ball pythons...

DON'T GIVE UP!!!

My 02 female BP ate tonight after fasting since November. I can't tell you how great it feels to see your snake eat after he / she's mysteriously stopped for months and months.

She took an FK medium rat fast and hard, as if she hadn't missed a day. However it took her a while to find the head and get it down ... like she was out of practice. You can bet I was nervous that she was going to give up!

Sorry about the shoddy pictures, but the lights were off and I certainly wasn't going to bother her (or the other animals).

On a side note, this is my first night in months that I went 3 for 3 (king snake, corn snake and ball python all eat whatever's offered to them on the same night).

WOOHOO!!!! I empathize with you, totally! My male is finally eating again after fasting all winter. Funny, but he won't eat in his box any more. I have to leave them (fk or ft) in his cage overnight...lol...silly snake, keeping me on my toes by switching things up. Good for you and your "kids". Glad to hear everyone is eating again.

just curious, all this time trying to feed him since november, what do you do with the food ? refreeze it ? throw it out ? and how often did you try to feed him/her ?

At first I was using FT and if she didn't eat (after leaving it in with her all night), I just threw it out. I don't like to refreeze. After a while I caught on and started buying FK so that I could offer them as soon as I got home, and if they weren't taken within a few hours, I could refreeze them and offer them at another time. Sort of giving 1 rat 2 chances at being eaten.

I tried every 2 - 3 weeks once I realized that she had stopped.
