if i have a UTH do i need a heatlamp?

Hi

No not really, so long as the uth is keep the warm side around 88 to 90 degrees.

I use the uth on all of my tanks and it is warm enough for mine.

It all depends. Check your temps with just the uth. If its warm enough, then you dont need a lamp. When i turned my uth on, it only got up to 80 on the warm side. So i had to use a heat lamp also. I couldve used just the heat lamp and no uth, but belly heat is important for digestion. So i raised the lamp up a little higher and left the uth on and it stays at 95. You'll just have to experiment with your temps. Also, if your temps arent hot enough, but you dont want to buy a heat lamp, just take a couple layers of paper towels (or whatever you use) off and it will keep it warmer.
