feeding question about pinkys

alexXx Apr 07, 2004 01:49 AM

hey all, i decided the other day to treat my leo with a pinky, but he just kinda licked it and wandered off...on the advice of a friend i just freezed the pinky and will try another day, but my leo usually doesn't eat things that are already dead (picky bastard)...i was just wondering if there was a proper way to get my leo to eat pinkys or does he just not like the things? thanks, all...

It may just not be to his liking, or it may be to big for him depending on how big he is.

I’d say alittle less than half of my adult leos like pinkies. I’ve never tried feeding a ft pinky, but I doubt it would work. If the pinky stops moving, try rolling it onto its back, that usually gets my geckos attention. Pinching or hold the mouse is not a good idea because you cold easily get bitten. You might also try scenting it with your geckos normal food. Good luck!

My geckos only eat the pinkies when they move a lot or crawl really fast. One time one of my geckos bit one and put it in its mouth, but it just held it there and walked around with it then he dropped it. The pinkie died, so I took a tooth pick and moved it around and another gecko got it and ate it.

So you should take the frozen one and try moving it around with something small and not obvious to the gecko. Trick your gecko into thinking its a live.
