Do Collared Lizards Squeak faintly?

ETChipotle Apr 07, 2004 07:07 AM

I thought I heard something when I was dangling my collared lizard from a noose last summer. No, I didn't swing him around any more than was necessary

I don't mean like a gecko or anything...

Any thoughts?

For those who might not know, I was desperate to catch him in the neighbor's back yard after he escaped, and the only way I could think of catching him was to use a noose.

My female yellowhead will sometimes hiss quite loudly and occasionally punctuate her expressions of hatred with a bit of squeeky tone thrown in. And that's just when I clean the substrate. You should hear her if I actually have to catch her to move her to another tank! ROFL. Complain complain complain.

Its definitely a case of unrequited love.

Every once in awhile one of my collared lizards will start to open its mouth in a hissing action, but will stop before it's open enough to be very menacing or intimidating.

I live in fear that I will never be bitten by a collared lizard.

In fact, where's that Paul McIntosh, he didn't tell me they wouldn't bite! Oh I guess he didn't promise they would either...

...bitten me IS from Paul LOL. Ghost has nailed me and my wife both, but he is very civil about it. He got Nina after the excitement of a little unscheduled running time in the bar ditch, and chomped me on the finger when I was feeling around under the edge of my new fake rock flower pot that I use for a laying box. Surprise! "What's that blue thing on your finger?"

my lizards are pretty laid back and peace loving too. sometimes milly, who is my little spazmataz, will open her mouth like she is preparing to bite me when i stick my hand in the cage but never does. i did get bit once and it was the cutest thing ever. it was either walter or ivan the girl, i was not paying attention. a string had gotten into their cage and it was stuck to one of their decorations and then it was tangled around the two of them and when i was trying to free them i guess i pulled too hard and i was bitten. i always read that they had powerful jaws and to be careful, this did not hurt at all though.
