Feeding stp for first time!

weidjd Apr 07, 2004 10:26 AM

I got him from Bob Clark so this will not be his first meal. But the first time with me feeding. I have had him for 7 days. Do I try to feed or not? Also he has been moving from hide to hide but is never out. DO I remove him from hide to feed or? I usually with my other snakes dont need to worry about hides but he seems a little more shy or scared.

Thanks for any info.

Go ahead and try to feed him, I'll try withing a few days, it nothing then, then I'll try after a few more days.I bet he'll eat, try a fresh kill or frozen thawed and just wiggle it infront of his hide.If he doesn't take it then, just leave it an inch infront and he'll come out for it when your not watching. As for the hides, they spend most of their time in the hides and will come out at night to explore the cage.I think once they are used to their surroundings they will just hang out in the cage most of the time. They aren't really an active snake.

Thanks for reply. When I get my hemostats tomorrow I will try then to fed f/t. He sticks his head out looks around but never moves until night, like you said.

No problem, I just wiggle them by their tail with a fk and see if they respond if not I'll just leave it there and come back 20 minutes later.Hemostats are good and especially when they are bigger snakes and a wrong strike to your hand will hurt.
