Rear leg problem

herperboy Apr 07, 2004 12:24 PM

this morning i noticed my male mali wasnt using one of his back legs. He has feeling in it and there arent any wounds, but he just kind of drags it along. The upper part of his leg(above his knee) is swollen. Other than his leg he seems fine. Does anybody know what is going on, and do i need to do anything about it.
Thanks in advance.

I am definitely not a vet, however, when my mali was dragging his back legs it was a calcium deficiency problem. It was actually MBD and I lost him. My veterinarian said that loss of use of the hind limbs is a very typical sign.
I'm sure that it could be several other things as well, but this is just one possibility. I wouldn't wait too long to take the animal into a vet if the dragging continues.
