Good News...and Bad News.

scott_and_cat Apr 07, 2004 03:34 PM

The good news is: I'm an Auntie! My best friend & his wife just had their baby girl, Gillian, on Monday. She's adorable.

The bad news is, my "Old Girl,Peshima", a Long Tailed Grass lizard (a rescue) passed on this morning. She was the eldest of the two, had special needs, not very active, pretty much slept in her burrow the rest of her days. She was healthy though-- and lived happy.

The hardest thing about taking in smaller reptile rescues-- is it can be hard to give them an appropriate age. Unless you notice a marked growth (as in Devon, who has trippled his size since we rescued him), it's pretty much a guessing game. Another hard thing is you have no idea of the rescues past history. Lots of vet bills, time and compassion--- but it's worth it.
