Breeding season agression video clip

sideman7 Apr 07, 2004 06:05 PM

For anyone who hasn't already experienced the joy of breeding season with a male iguana around...

OK, I hope this works... I have a 4.6 Meg video clip of Dexter stalking me, then attacking his toy a couple of times. The file is MPEG-4 format and may require Quicktime to play it. Click the link below the photo, then click the link on the following page if you have a PC. If you have a Mac, you will need to ctrl-click the link and select "download link as", otherwise you will get a page full of gibberish.

The toy eventually had to be thrown away because he tore half of it's head off, and he would shake it so violently that the stuffing would go flying everywhere... The photo below is from a year ago. The video is from a month or two ago.

breeding season is during the winter months. and i wouldnt worry about your going into season until it is sexually mature. which is around 2 years old i think.. dont quote me on that...

Breeding season is typically late Fall, and can last up to four months (sometimes even more...). Not all males get as aggressive as mine, so don't expect Tiny to turn into a monster (if he is male - he looks too young to know for sure). I think they are considered hatchlings until 3-4 months, then juveniles until sexual maturity at around 18 months.
