I have been running pwersuns for a while now if you have only one cage or two the heat shouldnt be an issue i had 12 and it got hot the powersun is the best bulb i have found but all seem to not be as reliable as desired you cant put them on a thermostat but otherwise they are an excellent bulb i havent had any problems other than they stopped working but even then zoo med honored the warranty which certain other havent hope this is of help Mike (Dragondepot.com)

I use Powersun bulbs (100 watt flood) in my 55 gallon tanks. I used to have florescent tubes and heat bulbs and when I switched over to the Powersun I noticed an increase in their appetite, enhanced color and overall they seemed more active. I really recommend them. If you can afford it - do it. You won't regret it. Just remember to get the flood bulb and not the spot bulb and you should have the bulb (100 watt) at least 12 inches away from the basking spot. A 160 watt bulb shouldn't be used unless you have a huge cage where the bulb will be several feet from the basking spot. Also, you can't touch these bulbs with your bare hands. The oil from your hands will decrease the bulbs life considerably. I've had great success with these bulbs and have never had one quit working on me yet (knock on wood). Good luck.

P.S. Did you know that vets prescribe these bulbs for reptiles with MBD? That's how strong they are. They really let off a lot of UVB.
