Aggressiveness???

kop3 Jun 13, 2003 01:35 PM

Im real new to this game and I am looking into purchasing a wamena chondro. They are absolute beauties in my opinion but I want to know how aggressive they are. Ive been reading posts and saw that the amazon boas are aggressive and ball pythons are not.
Exactly what class does a chondro python fall into and how tame are they? I am looking for a pet that I can handle often, while watching tv on the phone computer etc?

Also are the albino balls as laid back as regular balls? I know they are basically the same species just with the recessive color gene present but does this have an effect on personality.

After extensive research in this area, the only snake that will stay in one's lap while one is typing and not get tangled in the chair is the blood python. And that's only until they get too big to sit in one's lap. Small arboreal snakes will sometimes wrap around the chair arm, but only until you're not looking.

If you are starting out that new, you need a ball python. And the last post is fairly correct, None of them sit in your lap for long. My adult ball python will lay in your lap for hours if you cover him up (make him think he is hid and it is dark, so he goes to sleep). Even my borneo blood gets antsy after about a half hour and starts investigating. (NOTE: I would not suggest a blood python to somsone with no herp experience!!! they can be difficult to keep due to very speciffic husbandry needs)

I dont necessarily mean sit in my lap. But Im looking for a snake that is not very aggressive and doesnt mind being handled often. Im not 100% new to the game either Ive had garter and small green snakes before, and currently have a gator.
thanks

It's hard to say 0 that any snake of a given species will be 'tame'. Ball pythons and king and corn snakes are pretty good bets, though. My first snake was an Eastern king and she's an absolute sweetheart. My blood python is a sweetheart too, but harder to care for.
