Cornsnake Jubilee (cool picture and a question)

Sasheena Apr 08, 2004 12:07 AM

Here's a picture of four of my corns. Got a question.... what colors would you all say these four snakes are? Just a quiz mind you, then I'll ask my clarification questions later. The four snakes are: Hermes, Aphrodite, Athena, and Calypso

Kerby has it spot-on except for one, and that was the one I had a question about.

Calypso: Reverse Okeetee aka Amel aka Flourescant ~ Serpenc0

Hermes: Normal Stripe

Athena: Anery Stripe

Aphrodite: Sold to me by Kathy Love as Normal het Motley. Is she Hypo? Interesting that everyone thought so! I have a snow male that should be breedable next year, who might be het hypo, or even homozygous hypo.

I don't think I do, and not sure I'll get one any time soon, she's gravid and I don't like to bother her too much. I'm sure Kathy could tell whether she is hypo, since she bred her in the first place. It's not like it's a problem to me one way or the other. She's a beautiful snake with a nice personality. I too wondered if the het-motley would result in the reduced black of my stripes (can we say NO black?) but wasn't sure if it had an effect in that manner.

Motley and stripe both reduce black, if you look at most normal adult stripes, the only black you see is in their eyes i believe.

You know, now that you say he's het motley, maybe he isn't hypo at all. Motley tends to reduce black, and maybe he's got the reduced black from that? I know he's het motley, not motley, but I would think since his parents (or at least one of them) probably has reduced black from the motley gene, maybe he's just carrying that through??
