Vision Cages (or similar cage) and thermostat temp probe location

the_reptilian Apr 08, 2004 08:01 AM

Can someone give me an example of where (inside or outside) they have their thermostat temp probe located? I thought about just for now running the probe thru the front glass and attaching it to the inside of the hide box on the warm side for now. Then when I get enough cages to start stacking, placing the probe in-between the cages (outside).

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,

We drill a small hole in the side of the cage over where the heat tape is located. This will allow you to get an in cage temp. When the cages are stacked (we use banks of 4 high) we put the probe in one of the 2 middle cages and have not had any problems!

Hope this helps!

Thanks Russ,

Thats a good idea. Do you have the probe attached to the wall or floor in any way?

Jeff,

I just use a piece of clear packing tape to hold the probe in place! We have never had a problem with it moving after it was in place!
