Well, I have had my baby a little over 3 weeks now. The little bugger will not eat the hatchling pellets. I always offer them to him first. He goes for it and then spits it out and leaves it. Then it gets gross and I have to take it out. I then feed it either freeze dried bloodworms or sun dried baby shrimps. Do some turtles just not eat them and then later learn the survival thing and eat whatever is given to them? Thanks

Maybe he knows if he holds out something better will come along. I think you're going to have to let him get hungry before he will eat the pellets. The shrimp really should only be an occasional treat. If he refuses the pellets, don't offer him anything else. The next day he might like the pellets a little bit more. I also leave a big leaf of romaine lettuce in the tank at all times. Your turtle can munch on that if it is hungry and you won't have to feel like you're starving him. Your turtle can go a very long time without eating, it won't hurt him a bit. So, hold your ground and he will come around eventually.

Good luck, Nancy
