? about Motley stripe genes

cowtownherper Apr 08, 2004 02:15 PM

I was reading the post below(jubilee) and it got me to thinking. Lookout. Anyways, I know the motley gene can reduce the black. My motley has no black except for her eyes. My question is does the gene responsible for the stripes act that way too? My anery motley stripe (angus) had a lot of black when I got him. He gets lighter with every shed to the point where his black is almost gone now. Do you think those genes are at play here, or is the grey just taking over the black. Just wondering. Thanks,Jim

The stripe gene is reducing the black, or the grey is just taking over the black?

Yes the black is diminishing. motley and stripe both have this affect on melanin.
