Alligator jumps on truck passenger (front page story)

I don't get why they had to kill the gator. What did the people expect driving through a 3 foot deep puddle at a wildlife park? Too bad they don't get the Darwin award.

Alligator jumps on truck passenger

A Florida woman is recovering after an alligator leapt on her as she sat on the back of a pick-up truck.

Patricia Compton, 65, and seven relatives had just driven through a three-foot-deep water puddle in the JW Corbett Wildlife Management Area when the reptile attacked.

The 10-foot alligator lunged up onto the truck, and clamped its jaws down on her ankle.

The pensioner said: "It was vicious. But at least it let me go."

She escaped with a three-inch gash to her ankle.

Wildlife rangers later tracked the alligator and killed it.

That is crazy. SHE is dumb enough to a)Ride in the back of a truck b)Ride in the back of a truck as it goes through fairly deep water in a place known for gators(Florida) And the gator dies? Should have let him finish his meal...natural selection and all......

Naw...it was obviously a mercey killing. The gator had bit into old meat and was bound to die of food poisoning.......
