I'm in Cheyenne...did you have photography or collection in mind? I'm not sure what the CO laws are regarding collecting, nor what would be required to do so if you aren't a resident.

Hi cheyenne I guess that I need to check all of the laws out but I am still interested in going to the desert

Are you looking at collecting, or photography? That'd be the main thing.
I've been up to Vedau Woo, but saw absolutely nothing. I've yet to find out where the best spots for herping in Wyoming are.

Oh, I just discovered that Prairie rattlers and snapping turtles are considered small game in Wyoming, lol...So, those require a small game license.

A few species require an educational permit, but most don't. If you're interested in coming up here sometime, my friend and I still plan on hunting out the best areas around here. I do not think that any permits or licenses would be required for you to go herping up here--I can call fish and game sometime to make sure, but I don't see anything that suggests it, looking over the regulations.

I'd like to go herping in CO, too, and I know my friend would as well...but we'll have to look into whether any licenses or permits are required. Usually the same ones are required for out of state folks as are required for in state, but they're more expensive.

If it's photography only, and not collecting, there's no need of course.

Hello Tim,
Herping in Colorado and the deserts of the Southwest are my specialty. If you'd like email me - CViridis@msn.com. Thanks Tim

Ever been up in WY?
(Turns out, the document I found that I thought was on WY small game turned out to CO small game... They sure don't mark those documents very well, on the net).
