Hi at a recent reptile show I got 2 tropical night lizards or bark lizards and a armadillo lizard.they were all in the same setup in a t3en gallon.since then Ive set them up in a twenty gallon long with water hides a uv light and a heat pad.I will be getting a heat lamp soon. They are all feeding and doing well as I can see.I was wondering if anyone keeps these lizards and has any care or breeding info.thanks to all who post.

Hello nickpurvis:
The Guatemalan Night Lizard (genus Lepidophyma sp., possibly maculata) is very hardy as a captive. The one's I kept were dark brown (almost black) with dull yellow spots sprinkled over the body. They liked climbing around in the late evening as the sun was going down and into the night. During the day they like sleeping inside of hollowed out logs. I kept a light over the tank to simulate daylight so they could sleep. A woodland type terrarium works well for them.
These lizards are not shy about feeding in a controlled environment. They feed on all kinds of arthropods and grubs. Crickets, mealworms, moths, waxworms, and butterworms are all eaten equally.
One of the neatest things about them is that they are parthenogenic. It only takes one to start a colony though two or three in a terrarium is not a bad idea. They are also fairly long-lived animals as well. One of mine I had for over seven years, and she was an adult when I got her.
I hope this info will be of some use to you.
Good Luck!!!
