Tadpole help

PhunkeyPhish Jun 13, 2003 02:38 PM

Ive got a bullfrog tadpole, and he has his legs pretty much fully developed, hind legs that is. I think one of his gills has closed up, but the other is still in tact. He lives with my fish right now, is this tthe time that he needs to be moved into shallower water with a haul out area? Also, when can i stop feeding him, because i know when they reabsorb their tails they dont need to eat, do i quit feeding once i see his front legs begin growing? Thanks

I think one of his gills has closed up,

This does not make any sense, frog tadpoles do not have any external gills when they have hindlegs!

The tadpoles should not be in with fish, period. Move into its own aquarium.

You should only stop feeding him, when it stops eating.

When it gets its front legs, you can wait a few days and then move it to another container. I find that sweater boxes with unbleached paper towels and water, tip to one side is an effective habitat for the conversion.
