rubbermaid housing ?

bloodpython7 Apr 08, 2004 07:26 PM

i was recently at a reptile show and i was asking how you get lighting into a rubbermaid for my bloods and this guy told me that you dont need lighting in them because the snakes usually only come out when the lights are out and they are hiding when the lights are on so all you need is an undertank heater to keep the heat in the rubbermaids and you dont need lighting. so before i do it i would like to hear what other ppl have to say about this. is this true that i wouldnt need lighting or what?

He is correct about them being nocturnal. They need no light, and they would probably prefer less light. If you do want to light the cage make sure to have a good day/night cycle. I have a light be use it only for viewing the snake during the day, most of the time I do not have it on.

ok thanks but now i have 1 more question. since my light is usually on if i start to not use it or i dont use it in the rubbermaids would i have to turn the heating pad up since the light wouldnt be on anymore or will it produce enough heat without being turned up from its normal temp? i dont know if that made sense the way i wrote it but hopefully you will undeerstand. thanks again
