I have a male ball and is around 500 grams. When do I know he is ready to breed? Do I check for sperm plugs and how is this done?

How do you pop safely? Not 100% comfortable with it.

I got our new male het pied up to around 700 g and threw him in with the ladies and presto! Now we're just waiting on 2 clutches froma a couple females he bred. Good luck with your little guy.

when he is around 16 to 20 months old he "should " be ready to go......

and even if he does actually breed....he may not have viable sperm ready.......(but the actual act of breeding and being with female balls will help stimulate the production of viable sperm)....(as will his breeding help stimulate the females to ovulate.....)

........yes.....I didn't read the other responces...but yes....some people push males at 6 months old........(but they only show the actual breeding...they never come back in here and tell how the females all laid duds.......

think about it...how many breeders did you ever see come in here and brag how well they screwed up..and how all their trying didn't pay off even though they thought it would?......noone ever says how crappy they are at breeding........

on that note...hey ....I got 172 eggs so far......73 duds.....(that leaves 99 good ones).....*.....not great odds huh.....
........(biggest reason....?...cages too small.......I bet on it.......
