Thank You,

They are available captive-bred. But if you really have to collect a baby you'll find them in the fall crossing roads trying to get from the nest to the water. Also, if you find them at this point you can be fairly sure they haven't ingested any parasites yet. When I found mine, he still had a yolk-sac.

I've found them right out of the nest at the end of July in some places. But, I've noticed that maybe by coincidence but if you wild catch one that is more than a year old, they always seems very aggressive already and don't clam down. I know and heard this isn't always the case but just remember their rep. I would get a fecal done at least if you catch one to check for parasites. but cb is better....i did catch mine though.

well i don't know where i can find someone who breeds them.i'm in NJ.and was hoping for one that just hatched or close to it so like u said its not aggressive most of the time less then a yr old cause i heard over a year their used to defending themselves so they're more aggressive.

so in the fall near lakes, ponds, streams is a good time to find them crossing the roads or new a lake or something?

i've found mine in bogs or swamps smaller easier to cover areas to find them in late summer. I'll see them (hardly and they easily blend in) and them pick them up or use a net if needed. be careful, they still bite at the young age... it doesn't hurt much but why would someone want to be bitten.
