1st Feeding Frustration

Morgans Boas Apr 09, 2004 12:11 AM

I've got a batch of babies that had their 1st shed last saturday, and I've been spending all of my free time trying to get them to eat. About a third of them have taken mice. In the past, I've usually had all my babies feeding on mice or rats, but this group is very finiky I guess. Does anyone have any "tricks" that have had good success. I've offered pinky rats, and fuzzy mice ---live, dead, and brained. I've been seeing one or two eat each day. I'm used to most all being fed by now.

I usually try a live meal that is too small to hurt the snake, like a fuzzy mouse or pinky rat left overnight in the cage with the paper towel and water bowl removed. Most of the time, the meal is gone by morning. Best of luck.
Oh, you might also check your temps. It is an old saying, if your boa won't eat, warm it up !
