An observation with my "good girl".She likes(tolerates)me and is great with interaction. She seeks me out and hangs out.She sat in my lap the other day for 30 minutes while I rubbed her neck and pulled off dead skin. Then I order pizza. She is hanging on me and great for 30-40 minutes and the pizza guy shows up.Instant panic(for her). They know who they trust and strangers are not allowed.Who says they are intelligent?Or is it because I ordered a veggie pizza?YOU decide :_)

Yoshi acts completely different when anyone other than I am around. If he and I are alone he seems very comfortable and tolerant. If my wife or friends come in he gets very nervous and panicky. With the exception of one time when my friend and his wife came over. They were curious and looking in his cage to see how big he had gotten. I opened the doors and he decides to climb the branches to our level and let her (friends wife) pet him. He didn't seem to want anything to do with anyone else but in this case the perfect stranger was accepted, tolerated, and I have to admit even prefered over even me. That didn't bother me but it seemed really strange because he approached her very calmly and "rested" on the branch right in front of her almost as if to say "I like you."

They are really intelligent animals and I think they percieve threats & non threatening things in a way we may never understand.

Thanks for sharing. You have a great looking albig.

They know. My Sav was a sweetie with me. He didn't like being held, but otherwise I could handle him, and he seemed to enjoy it (I could rub his nose or head, etc.). He would often come to me when I opened the cage or climb out onto my lap. I could handfeed him, and he took his food very gently. Whenever anyone else opened his cage, however, he went all Jurassic Park: Glare, puff, whip whip! They could look at him through the glass, and he was fine, but if anyone but me opened the cage or approached him while he was out, he had a fit.

The picture is over a year old, but I think he was about 36 inches long at the time. He died last March.

Oh, and if anyone is wondering about all that weird stuff on the floor (since I get asked that anytime someone sees the photo). It's what was left of my couch and a down feather pillow after my Siberian Husky used them for chew toys. Havoc is walking over a piece of yellow foam. Since the vacuum scared Havoc, I let him have his walkabout before I cleaned up after my problem-child dog.
