A question on coloration

asia2003 Apr 09, 2004 07:58 AM

Hi All,

I have a question for you guys....

Since Meego's last two sheds (I would say over the last 4 weeks or so) I have noticed that he is getting some orange coloration under his chin, and under both his front and back legs! He is an arg b/w and I got him from bert at agama int.

Is this normal?? I have never heard of a b/w getting any other colors than the standard black and white, and of course the green coloring as babies. It is really very pretty, but thought I'd ask all the same.

Thanks,

Ley & Meego.

Here's a photo of Bianca at about 10 months of age. She had quite a bit of orange showing but lost it as she matured.

Hi,

I just received an answer from Bert at agama int. too, he said that there are certain bloodlines in his b/w breeding stock that have the red coloration, which turned from orange to a much deeper red than even the red tegus have, which I think is wonderful. Meego is now 11 months, and I really hope he hangs onto the coloring for at least a little while, it is beautiful.

My Arg B/W (Tigs) has had a lot of orange on his belly since the day I got him as a hatchling. Really hoping it stays because it makes him look a lot nicer in my opinion.
