BARRS cages

do you guys think his 12x12x16 is big enough for a single crested and how do you guys furnish your cages? thanx

I have around 25 Barrs cages, including a few of the 12x12x16 size. There's no way I'd keep an adult in a cage that size. I would go with the 16x16x20...maybe bigger, especially if you think you might get more Cresties in the future.

My cages are furnished with newspaper for substrate, egg crates for climbing/hiding and a shoe box size rubbermaid filled with shredded coconut husk for a nest box.

If you're just keeping one as a pet, you probably want a more naturalistic display.

I would use a soil mix or even shredded coconut husk as a substrate...something very fine. You definitely don't want to use any kind of substrate that they can accidentally choke on. As for furnishings, get some ficus plants (trees actually) and/or some long slabs of corkbark. Various thin branches will also be used.
