hey guys, i need to give my turtle some heat, but i only have a submersible, is this enough? or do i have to get one hovering over the basking area, regardless of the water temp?

thanks in advance for the info guys

The heat from the basking lamp should be sufficient... provided its not too far from the basking site... and you're not in Antarctica. My basking lamp is only 4-6 inches above the basking site, and my turtles seem to prefer being directly under the lamp.

The submersible heater should keep your water temp in the low to mid 70's, but you also need a heat lamp and a UVB light over the basking spot. The temp on the basking spot should be near 90. This gives your turtle the ability to regulate its own temp, climbing onto the basking spot to warm up and dry off. Then back into the water to cool off.
