I was wondering if anyone here feeds their adult savannah monitors Canned dog food every now and then. If so what brand and how often and how much. What do you use as a staple diet? Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks you so Much

dog food is very high in fat your savannah would do better on a diet of mice ,chicks, and if they are still small, a diet of crickets dusted with calcium and pinks or fuzzy's also dusted with calcium will do just fine ,the reason i say dust the pinks and fuzzies is that there bones are not developed like a full grown mouses bones are, that supply a good amount of calcium, that your monitor can benifit from. good luck with your monitor....
your monitor doesnt ever need! Stick to whole prey items such as mice and roaches. Buy Daniel Bennetts book "The Truth Varanus Exanthematicus". It is the BEST book ever written on bosc monitor husbandry!!!

I wouldnt feed it to any of my monitors, not only because I know its not good for them but because they eat good whole animals (rodents, insects, chicks).
I wouldnt feed dog or cat food to a monitor I didnt like (if there was one).
