Change of seasons or temps?

BRG Apr 09, 2004 06:43 PM

Long time ,no post here.Just an observation. My "Sweetpea" turned two years(5') around this March.I thought this winter that maybe my temps went lower to cause a HUGE decrease in feeding. She went from the usual 2 rats/3 days a week to 1 rat every week for months.NO interest in food either.About a week before Spring ,she went nuts again and would take a hand off if not fed every couple days.I know FR told me so,but was just wondering about average, non expert folks.(FR too).

I am not sure what your asking or getting at.

Is it about temps and feeding responce or seasonal rythems of subequatorial varanids, hahahahahahahaha.

Actually, it brings up the old question, is one stronger and more important to the other, or the even older, which has more influence on the monitors.

Just to start off a little discussion, I think neither/both are hard set(inherent) behaviors and neither/both are soft(learned) behaviors. That is, They have both, inherented traits and learned traits and each can overlap the other, hmmmmmmmmmmm FR

Think some sense the barometric pressure and are affected by it? Or maybe its not the "barometric pressure" they sense. Honestly, I dont't know, your thoughts. Thanks

Sobek slowed down this winter to one large rat a week and now spring is back her appetite is higher also, a bit higher as temps here are still fast fluctuating, but then again she still hides alot and comes out very rarely. Advantage to a burrow with an opening top, I can check on her on occaision.
