Loverly critter....No surprise it's a female. What is it with the males? The females are great, but the best I have done with males is eight months and for most people I have talked too that is a record.

I had one female come in with an eye infection and die after a month despite antibiotics, and another die after a month for no apparent reason. My male hung on for a year. Meh, scared me off buying WC snakes for a while, I can tell you that.
Sniff... but they're soooo pretty. And my male wasn't even snappy.

My female C.Cerastes was fairly quick to rub it's scales and throw little defensive strikes. Yet my male C.Gasperetti was the complete opposite, very timid, couldn't get him to strike. Either way, w/ the whole defensive, rubbing scales thing, the strike was pretty predictable. They just throw it out there, not really trying to hit anything. Rather short strikes too. You'd almost have to go out of your way to be bit by one. Awesome snakes though, I'd like to get a few cbb DHV next time I see em at a show.

SO pretty but I have a CB male but hes pretty reluctant to feed, hes been going a little over a month without food now and only about 6 inches.. we shall see.. hes getting more and more adgetated at the food im presenting so maybe one day hell swallow..

Why are the males dying off? and perticualr problems I should be aware of.. Never heard of any issues with male Vs female
