Hatchling pairs

How long would I be able to keep a female pair of Saharans in a 3' vision, with two basking spots, two hide caves, and plenty of rocks together? Does anyone have any info on the social behavior and tolerance of cagemates on Saharans specifically? I'm pretty sure I want to buy from Deer Fern Farms. Anyone have any uros from them? They seem like the best but any additional assurance would be great. Thanks....even though I'm sure the info I'm looking for is in a thread just two or three posts below.

I would think you could manage in a 3' through the juvie stage. Adults will need larger accomodations, in my opinion (take for what it's worth!).

I have two saharans - both wild caught, one from Doug Dix. He told me that they tend to some of the more cagemate-tolerant of the uro species. Mine had no problems when they were introduced into a newly rearranged cage together. They still have had no problems to date many months later - we'll see how breeding season progresses for attitude changes.

They don't pay much attention to each other, but both are more active and gained weight when they were put together. I think the stimulation did them good.

How old are your guys? I noticed the same thing when I put my two juvenile ornates together; they both eat better, are more active and have gained more weight than they did when kept individually...So far so good, although there was some discussion about hides; the male wanted to sleep in the same hide with the female, and she thought not...he'll often wait until she's asleep, then sneak in the side entrance to sleep next to her...I have three other hides, including one right next to hers, but he definitely wants to "share"...

Seeing their behavior it makes me wonder if clutchmates in the wild hang out together, at least for the first couple of years...like you, I'll be interested to see if sexual maturity and the breeding season brings changes in behavior...

>>How old are your guys?

I don't know exactly - Doug said the male I got from him was likely 3-4 years old since he was full size and color, but had no breeding scars to speak of. The female was purchased elsewhere and she's probably a young adult - maybe 2-3 years, but I'm just guessing.

Mine both sleep jammed into the tunnel that leads to their sleeping chamber. They don't actually sleep in the box,. It's a pain for me, but they sure like it.
