How can I transport eggs?

wingert Apr 09, 2004 10:54 PM

I may have to relocate and have eggs in the incubator. It is a 2-3 day trip. I was thinking I would top off the container that the eggs are in with more peralite and boxing it up like I was sending live reptiles. In a styro foam box with newspaper and a 48 hr. heat pad taped to the side. Let me know if this sounds like it might work or how to do it properly.

You'll be spending 2-3 days in a car?? I'm afraid those eggs would not make it after being shaken around for so long. Can you give them to someone nearby to incubate for you?

I once took 3 cornsnake eggs on a 3 hour drive and after being vibrated in the car, one of the eggs dented on the way home and the other two dented in by the next day. I was so afraid that I had killed them but they did hatch, surprisingly enough.
