Noises from my blood.

darkserpent213 Apr 10, 2004 12:46 AM

I have a short-tail borneo and when I spray her down once a day or go to hold her she lets out a hissing sound. Now I know that snakes hiss, but she is the only one that does it. Does anyone elses snake do this and is it normal, cuz i'm hoping its not RI.

Maybe shes just pissy and vocal about it.

Well I know she is not pissy. She has never shown any aggression at me in the past 2 years that I have had her.

HEY DARKIE,WHAT'S UP.REMEMBER,IN THE DEEP TROPICAL RAIN FOREST OF MALASIA IT IS VERY HOT AND HUMID.EVEN THE RAIN IS WARM WHEN IT COMES DOWN.BELIEVE ME I'M ORIGINALLY FROM HAWAII.SO WHEN YOU DIRECTLY SPRAY YOUR BLOOD,(NOT REALLY RECCOMENDED/JUST MY OPPINION.SPRAY AROUND.)YOU SHOCK EM AND LOWER THEIR BODY TEMPATURE VERY FAST.SO,IF YOU SPRAY, USE WARM WATER NOT HOT AND MAYBE HE /SHE WONT GET SO MAD.AS FOR RESP INF.,OPEN THE MOUTH WITH A POPSCICAL STICK AND CHECK FOR MUCOSE OR BUBBLY SALIVA.IF SO RAISE AMBIENT TEMPS AND CALL YOUR VET.I HOPE IT'S NOT THE LATTER.GOOD LUCK AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU,ALWAYS.

Is it a weezing or a hiss.Mine sounded like it was getting hard for her to breath or hiss.It wasn't a clean clear hiss like usual. You've had her for two years and has she done this the whole time or just recently. Also hows your temps and humidity, ambient and hot spots. Later, Ethan

Its very common for bloods to hiss when agitated. There are very vocal snake and is probably doing it to tell you that your doing something they dont like. As Ethan suggested tho if it is a wheezing it could be a problem, but hissing is perfectly normal for any blood.
