What's wrong with this picture?

Not even touching on the article itself, which is a whole other story, how about her set-up.

I think she may be in need of some husbandry advice.

I dont know what angers me more. The bad press and fueling large snake stereotypes, or housing a humidity dependent reptile in a bird cage.

OMG!!! These people upset me soo badly! EVERYTHING is wrong with that picture. It sickens me to see animals in those kinds of conditions, I,m sure that the woman really does like her snake, but why not spend 10 minutes to find out what it truly needs? Uneducated keepers such as this woman are the reason for the bad press that our beloved constricors get, which is of course a threat to our lifestyle as true herp enthusiasts. These situations always force me to question the practice of producing large boids to sell as pets. I would hate myself if I learned one of my babies was being kept in bird cages, fed once every 3 weeks and being walked through nieghborhoods. As breeders I feel we share responsibility when our animals eventually end up in the hands of these numbskulls who who have no buisness keeping any snakes and especially burms. this woman keeps an underfed burmese python in the WRONG conditions, getting bit out of feeding response is completely impossible to avoid. what happens when she is 16' and this lady shoves her arm in the snake's face right after petting her cat? well, if she can't remove a 7 footer as it is, she gets killed, and reputable snake keepers everywhere take another blow from the press. If you are new to herpetoculture, get a corn snake and go from there, wait AT LEAST A COUPLE YEARS and learn as much as you can from people who really know what they're doing before you put the third largest snake in the world in your living room, because the last thing anybody needs is more homeless 15'snakes or more idiots falling victim to "the big squeeze." I am seriously thinking about pulling out of breeding my large boids especially my burms for these reasons, any thoughts??

She does not care about her snake!
I am so angry at her more than the friggen press (which suck)!
If she at all cared about her snake she would have it in a cage with H20 and a hide box, and without the air drafts a home can have. I wonder why It bit her??? UMMMMMM lets see???
It's in a bird friggen cage that probally still smell like birds! This lady as well as all other fools out there should be just shot. They are in the end going to kill our hobby. More and more rules are imposed on us without us even knowing. Our hobby is like those rats and mice getting vacuumed sealed, the air is slowly getting sucked out of our bag (hobby) and before we know and can do anything anything about it we are done. Also, the stupid fool could of put running water over it and in its face, vineger works instantly, but know, she had to call the cops because the bite really hurt : ( poor baby....
Glad I am not related to fool (looking on a positive note).

i cant believe someone would do that to a burm. its absolutly essential that they are in some type of enclosure that holds humidity or they can get a servere upper respirtory infection. the cops should have taken her to jail for animal abuse. im just glad i dont know her, because i wouldn't let her treat her snake like that i would do something about it or even take it from her.
