is my lizard sick?

kyle1414 Apr 10, 2004 01:14 PM

last night my lizard crawled into one of her hiding spots to go to bed. The next morning the tail was in the same spot so i though she lost her tail (i couldnt see her whole body) so when i went to take it out she wasnt moving (normally she runs away if my hands even get near her.) today she hasnt been very alert, walking away slowly instead of running. Could she be pregnant, sick or is it just indegestion (if lizards get that) from eating to much. She was captive bred.

we also just changed the cage, dont know if that causes stress, its a desert sand from a pine shavings (I wanted beach sand but my dad bought desert sand)

well sorry to say but your curly tail is probably not captivew bred.no one is realy breeding these in the hobby right now.where did you get him.it is extremely rare to get captive jeweled curly tails.you need to change back to sand if you have him on shavings.what type of shavings were they.if they were cedar chips(i think thats the right way to say it)you need to get your lizard out right away as lizards that are in the same room with this stuff can die.curly tails need sand to burrow under and stay cool.this is probably the problem.if it still happens after this you should probably see a vet.

the bedding was whatever came with the care package from lllreptile, looked like pine. They are on sand now.

we took her to the vet and a little while later she died.

never feels good when we lose one, but sometimes it happens no matter how well we take care of them.

Very Sorry !

for awhile, finally got them out, and she went down hill quite fast and died.

Sad, as we just dont seem to be able to help to much yet when this problem occurs.
