Reptile toxicity (sp?)concern!

BRG Apr 10, 2004 01:39 PM

I was wondering if anyone knew about the toxicity to reptiles with this chemical?
Fipronil
(Beyond Pesticides Rating: Toxic

Common pesticides containing fipronil, a phenylpyrazole insecticide, are Frontline®, Frontline® Topspot™, Combat®, and MaxForce® (NPTN 1997). Concerns about human exposure to Frontline spray treatment were raised in 1996, leading to a denial of registration for the spray product (PAN 2000).

My house is going to get a termite treatment and I am very concerned and wondering what I should do with my reptiles. The company says it's safe for cats and dogs but has no way of knowing anything about reptiles.Does anyone have any experience here or a clue of what to do.My monitor would be hard to keep anywhere else for any length of time, but I won't take any chances with this. Thanks to anyone with info.

i am not sure if it is toxic, but if it is in pesticides it probably is pretty toxic. If you can get the monitor out of the house until a few days after airing out the fumes.
