Sick North American Wood

spottedturtleman Apr 10, 2004 03:01 PM

I have an adult male Wood that had a respitory infection when I got him about one month ago. I keep him at 88 degrees( I know its warm for a north american wood) and he eats fine. My concern is its not going away even after a trip to a vet that couldn't find his ass with two hands. He said to use tetracycline which doesn't do a whole lot but I keep using it. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED.

First get Baytril for the RI

Next lower the temperatures, otherwise you'll cook the poor turtle to death. They're usually most active at temps of 75-80F.

I do plan on lowering the temp I was just trying to keep him warm enough to fight the infection.
Thank you

You will need to go to a competant herp vet to get Baytril. I would keep the temp around 85F until he overcomes the RI. You will need to get Baytril for him to fully recover though.
