What's up Mike. I bet you can't wait to get this all figured out so you can pass a BM again. lol just kidding. Usually that indicates a temp problem. Do you have thermometers to measure the temp on both sides of the tank. He may be too hot. Then again, he might just be looking for food, or a mate (how old?) or maybe just getting settled in. Check your temps and let us know what you get.

Yeah i was thinking along those lines of hes very young still, cant say exactly how old i dont exactly kno, inbetween neonate and sub adult im guessing by size alone, and the temps are 84-88 in the day on the heated side 74-76 on the cool side, and night time temps are as follows 80-84 heated 70-74 unheated, i dont feel its a temp prob as i have a brooks who has the same temp ranges but is a lil older and doesnt move around the tank for [bleep]. thanks for the wise crack. keep it up. Mike.

Hi Mike, this isn't specific enough to tap the knowledge of people like Martin for feedback on possible age-related influences on your snake's behavior. I'm not picking on you, this is to encourage everyone on the forums to strive for the most precision possible. In this instance, the length of your snake would give Martin more to go on. It quickly becomes apparent on the forums that generalizations like big or subadult or fuzzy or whatever are too subjective to be real meaningful: the recent "how big" threads showed that when measured by serpwidgets almost all the snakes were significantly smaller than their owners had believed. Ditto for trying to decide what size food item is right: is a "fuzzy" right for a "baby" snake, for example, is merely an invite for people to come back asking more specific questions. So this is just to encourage everyone to try to be as specific as possible.

>>and the temps are 84-88 in the day on the heated side 74-76 on the cool side, and night time temps are as follows 80-84 heated 70-74 unheated...

you may get a lot of diff opinions on this, if it were me i'd drop the daytime temps on the warm side 4-6 degrees. I don't think there's every any need (other than possibly during medical treatment) for a king to have to be warmer than 82-84 max. just my opinion.

good luck with your snake.
terry
