I sent you a lengthy email already and wanted to make sure you got it. It's really long and basically outlines the current setup, so you can look through it, but I decided to post the questions here too, a long with a couple others. Basically, summers' coming and I want to do some "remodeling" of the enclosures.

Dirt:

vermiculite? I've seen pictures but not yet seen it up close. It looks like large pieces of mineral. can they harm the uro if ingested? I'm only going to be using a couple inches of whatever substrate I decided on for now anyways, until I get going on bigger cages (when I get the money), so I thought it might be okay to leave the vermiculite out until then, since the "burrows" are basically just going to be partially submerged hidespots for now anyways. I don't know, I haven't even tested out dirt yet, so it's all just hypothetical.

Humidity? It seems like there aren't really many studies on the humidities at which uromastyx should be kept. I always heard they were completely desert and needed very little humidity, about 30%. From what I know, you guys over at proexotics have almost completely enclosed cages for your uros, and with the dirt substrate, I would assume the humidity would be a little higher than 30%, yet no problems with RI from you guys. So basically, does any body know the correct humidity for a uro? Specifically mali?

Hides? I've just been using a short little wooden hidebox that doubles as a basking spot for now, which Sam seems quite content with, as she frequents it through out the day. I was wondering. until I can get a bigger enclosure, are there any good ways to get more hide spots in the tank for her (the tank is only 48"x13"x14"? Also, about how much time, on average, will a uromastyx spend in their hide? I'm just wondering, because I'm trying to figure out if she's in the hide spot too much, in which case I would most likely assume the temperature is fluctuating too much? (it's usually about 130 degrees, but it can fluctuate through out the day).

Umm, i can't quite remember what else I said in the email, but these are the questions I have been pondering today, and I wanted to know your thoughts.

Thanks.
