Lazy, Adorable, Odd...

Okay, all that my turtle does is sit in her huge plant, that is like an XXL, bask on her ramp, or sleep and eat. I really don't think that she would swim if she didn't have to. But since she can't just fly to the ramp from her plant, she's got to actually take energy and swim to her ramp (who could think such a horrible thing?!)lol, but anyways. She is so cute, and when she thinks she is getting fed, she will swim right up to the side of the glass and just freak out. But that is the only time she acts playful. She's got plenty and plenty of room to swim in... she just doesn swim.

Does anyone have some ideas on how to keep her occupied? Is there anything that I can put in her tank that she could "play" with?

Thanks a lot,
Sami

P.S- If you wanna see pictures of her, look in the photo gallery, her name is cosmo.

How deep is your water? In your pics it doesn't look very deep. My turtles spend a lot of time basking, but they do swim too.

Well, that is the old 10 gallon.. now she is in a 30 gallon tank, and the water is a little more than 3/4 full. She has plenty of room.. I'll have to see if I have another picture..

Here we go, this is a picture of Cosmo's tank. Her tank is the top tank.

How big is the turtle? 30 gallons isn't very big.

She is about 3 inches in the shell... It's not the biggest aquarium, I know. But she is perfectly capable of swimming in it, and having room.

I like to play with my turtle by skimming the surface of the water with a shrimp treat (a whole dried shrimp) and make him chase after it. Some people thought I was being cruel and teasing him but I viewed it as honing his hunting instincts. I also keep feeder fish in the tank that he will chase every once in awhile although he DOES prefer the I catch the fish and feed it to him. Sometimes all I have to do is dip the fishnet in the tank and he will start looking around for fish on his own. He's a really smart turtle
