Humidity Help

imprezzed Apr 10, 2004 10:26 PM

I have a terrarium that measures 6H x 6L x 4D made of mostly acrylic (two side walls and front doors) and the back being lanoleum over plywood. It is all sealed with aquarium safe sealant. The top is screened, but we have already tried covering most of it. We are using a Habba Mist System, manually mist twice daily, and have had no luck. I have a fogger on the way, but am worried this may not be enough because of the size. My level right now averages only between 30-45%. I will try and attach pictures......

Are those dimensions all in feet?? That's a big terrarium! We have an iguana in a 6'x8'x3' and she covers a *BIG* chunk of our bedroom...

By adding lots of live plants into your terrarium, you'll really beef up your humidity... Even in a screen cage for our cham, which is 4'x4'x1.5', with lots of plants we maintain an average humidity of about 60%. When our misters go off, it spikes to about 80% and levels off. As summer arrives, I think we'll be able to add some nozzles and more plants to beef it up even more...

On a really dry day, we supplement this with a hand sprayer, but, this is rarely necessary...

i would try to increase the humidity in the room or area that this cage is in. in my herp room i keep a small humidifier on
that keeps the whole room 60-70%. i have noticed that i have to spray the cages less and fill the water bowls less! sometimes
i think it is just as economical to heat and humidify an entire room as it is each tank seperately. just my opinion though!
