You found a photo of this snake on the internet! You stole this photo off a website and now claim you found it. Why don't you contribute positively to this Forum rather than make false claims. John Sullivan put together a nice website for people who love reptiles and have a genuine interest in nature. This is also what these forums are for.

maybe I came across too strong. Sorry for jumping down your throat. I think your post implied the snake in the photo was the actual snake you were inquiring about. I'm not trying to play the Forum Police but I recognized the photo from a man who has spent a lot of time taking pictures of nature. I think he deserves credit.

Most people who post photos here use ones that they have taken themselves. If they use other photographs, they usually mention that in their initial post, such as "I caught a snake that looks like this." You could have also given credit to the individual who took the photo. I know I get annoyed when others use my photographs without asking and without giving me credit for the photo. But that's just me and it is probably expected to a certain extent that people will copy and use photos off the internet.

Again, my apologies to you.

If you live in Tigard, Oregon and the snake looks similar to the photo you used, you found a Red-spotted Gartersnake, Thamnophis sirtalis concinnus. Ribbon Snakes do not occur in the Northwest.

Funny. It looks nothing like the first photo.

Northwestern Garters eat earthworms, small slugs, and occasional amphibians.
If it won't eat these, then your captive conditions are not right for the snake. If it has not be exposed to other animals in your house, you should probably release it where you found it.
